Here's a technique to do your steam treatment at home:
You will need:
2 Microfibre Hair Turban Wrap towels
Cleaning Gloves
2 plastic bags or plastic Wrap.
Heating cap or Hooded Dryer (VERY Important -there needs to be a heat source......)
Bottled Water ( Let's stay as far away from the Chlorine as possible)
Dunk the turbies in cold water... put em in a Glass bowl and heat em in the microwave till they are hot.use the cleaning Gloves - to Wring out one of the turbies. Put in on your head.... immediately put on cap.Wring out the next turbie. Put it on top of the plastic.Wrap the last turbie in plastic.I wrapped this tight - so I could get the heat cap on.
Sit for 30 mins. When I took the heat cap off - STEAM!!!!!!Spray or rinse with COLD water - to seal the Cuticle!!!
Naturals, I have read somewhere that there is yet another way to loosen your curls without resorting to chemical relaxer.
Many combinations can be used and all of them seem to work leaving natural nappy hair silky, shiny, soft and easy to detangled:
Sea salt + Baking soda + lemon juice + conditioner
It may also be that the kind of conditioner you use makes some sort of difference.
Here you go ladies, let me know what you think.
To change your look temporarily and arbhore a straight hairdo use the Coconut & Lime relaxer. It is all natural products, no chemicals. It's not permanent so you can wash it out when you want to see your beautiful curls back. It has to be said that because it's all natural and not permanent it will not relax your hair bone-straight, especially if you're 4A/B. But it's an excellent way to loosen your curls and soften your hair.
Here’s my way to make the treatment:
1 tin of coconut milk
2 tablespoons of coconut oil (or EVOO)
4 tablespoons of lime juice
2-3 tablespoons of corn flour
Put the corn flour in a bowl, slowly add the coconut milk until it becomes creamy then add the oil and whisk until well blended, add the lime juice. If you find the mixture is still too thin add a bit more corn flour. If the coconut milk you have is very thick to start with, you may leave the corn flour out altogether.
Apply the mixture to your hair in sections, ensure it is evenly covered do not comb. Cover with a plastic cap then under a steam cap or cover your head with a wet towel and sit with a hooded dryer on your head for ½ hour to an hour. You may also sleep with the mixture on your hair.
You can freeze in remaining product.
Then shampoo the mixture out of your hair and proceed to deep condition as usual with an ultra moisturising conditioner. use cold water for your final rinse to close the hair cuticles and seal the moisture.
Caramel treatment makes your hair hubber soft. It can be used on relaxed and natural hair. You can purchase it or make it yourself.
Here are the benefits:
- It strengthens your hair
- It helps to loosen your curl pattern All you need to make it yourself is:
- honey
- olive oil
- banana
- molasses
- ACV
- wheat germ oil
Mix the lot using a blender until creamy and smooth, once done apply to your hair with an applicator brush (or your finger whichever you prefer) as if you are applying a relaxer, wrap hair in plastic and keep it at least an hour or overnight.
This mixture cannot be stored, like all homemade concoctions, its shelf-live is limited. I would recommend you use within the hour for best results.
Enjoy!

Dosage & Administration: Apply to wet clean hair. Used like a conditioner 3 times a week after shampooing, your hair will be thicker and fuller. Because of the hair shedding, it is advice to take garlic supplement in order to prevent your hair falling out. The reason for the shedding is that your hair cycle is being accelerated, hence the rapid growth, which means that all your hair which cycle was coming to an end will fall sooner than if you were not using mega tek.

How do I use Megatek
I use an applicator bottle and mix about 1/4 oils and 3/4 mega tek. I use either jojoba, avocado, grapeseed, almond and a dollop of caster oil helps combine the thinner oils witht the thicker megatek. i just LIGHTLY oil my scalp with the mixture and rub it in. the oils prevent the megatek from making so much build up on your hair. I also use it as a protein conditioner. I deep condition with it after shampooing. It makes my 4B black hair grow faster and thicker.
